It's hot out. You may not feel like cooking, but want to ingest some healthy food. Although I don't recommend it regularly, from time to time a smoothie will get you some needed calories and the right macronutrients (carbs, fats, protein). Here you will find some of the best ingredients to add to your smoothies. You can mix a bunch of these together or just a couple to find a flavor palate right for you.
1. Greek Yogurt
A great source of healthy fat and some protein. This will help your smoothie to get the right texture.
2. Protein Powder
This will add protein, which most of us need more of, to your day. You can play around with different flavors of protein powder to add to your smoothie. If you are getting your flavor from other ingredients, vanilla is a good choice.
3. Nut Butter
This includes peanut butter (although technically a legume and not a nut). This will add healthy fat, some taste, protein, and thickness to your smoothie.
4. Fruits
Add fresh or frozen fruits that you like. Fruits are good for you. Fructose, the sugar in fruit does not have as harmful of an effect as other forms of sugar.
Blueberries
Banana
Orange
Apple
Raspberries
Strawberries
5. Vegetables
Either fresh greens or powdered greens can add the vitamins and minerals that you need in your daily nutrition.
Spinach
Kale
Powdered Greens
6. Dark Chocolate
Many antioxidant benefits with chocolate. Plus you can get your chocolate fix.
7. Coffee
Coffee is a stimulant that also helps fight off some diseases. This way you can have it cold.
8. Milk
Any milk of your choice to add some sweetness, taste to your smoothie. Great source of calcium for bone health.
