Make Time For You


This week I wanted to touch on a subject that seems foreign to a lot of you. Making time for you and yourself! I am not talking about taking a night out with friends or a date night. I mean literally taking time to be by yourself and reward yourself. It is important for you to take time to self discover. You need to find, and spend time doing, the things that make you your unique self. Not all of you are the same!


The Benefits of Taking "Me" Time


When you take some "me" time. You need it! When you take some "me" time, you have earned it. When you take some "me" time, you are fed up with things.


I am here to tell you that that is not what "me" time is about! It is about having an opportunity to pamper yourself or do things you wouldn't normally do. You can explore things that you haven't done before or go to your favorite place. There are so many things you can do and here is why you should go and do something!


  • Reduce Stress - Step away from things, relax, have a spa day, etc.

  • Recover - Use your time to recover from the work day or week, get outside and enjoy nature, try something new.

  • Calm Your Mind - Get away from people, try doing something that you don't have to think too hard (unless that makes you super happy)

These three things can let you explore all sorts of things that you want to.


How to Take "Me" Time


The most important thing for you to do is to schedule your time! I know this sounds tedious and just another thing on your "to-do" list. It is way more than that. Most of you know that taking some time to yourself is very beneficial. If you are anything like me, you don't schedule it, and then all of the sudden all of your time is accounted for.


You should put it in you calendar and invite everyone that needs to know you are unavailable to the appointment (or block it on public calendars). When you block time, you can block it as anything you want. You can even use things like "meeting" or "phone interview" or "zoom call" as the title of your calendar block.


The reason it is important to let other people know you are busy is so that you can drop what you are doing and get to your "me" time. You will not reap the benefits for your mind and body if you aren't ever able to take it.


Ideas For "Me" Time


This is definitely not a full list, but a starting point for you to get some inspiration on what to do for your "me" time.


  • Go for an easy hike

  • Get a massage

  • Get a manicure, pedicure, etc.

  • Meditate

  • Look at the stars

  • Read a book

  • Take a shower

  • Rent a bicycle

  • ETC.

It is important to know that your "me" time is for you to clear your head, relax, and have a breather.
