Prerequisite for Strong Shoulders

For a lot of things in life, your shoulders need to be stable. The more stable they are the stronger they can be. This is not a blog on how to build strong and broad shoulders. This is will tell you how to get to a point where you can start to build up your shoulders.

Muscles of the Shoulder

Depending on what you mean when you talk about shoulders, there can be up to 17 muscles involved. That's a lot. In this blog you are going to learn about shoulder stability and there will be a focus on just 4 of these muscles.

The muscles of the rotator cuff are the prime stabilizers of the shoulder.

  • Supraspinatus

  • Infraspinatus

  • Subscapularis

  • Teres Minor

These muscles help to hold your shoulder in place. It is especially important whenever you are going to use your shoulder that your rotator cuff is strong. It is highly active in lifting, pushing, pulling, and throwing.
