Sleep: The Best Way to Heal!


If you are sore and/or achy, the best way to heal is to get some sleep! We have all heard that 6-8 hours is recommended. The best recommendation is to get 7-9 hours of sleep. But there are some things you can do to help with your sleep.


First off, try to go to sleep and wake up at the same time everyday. Our body likes following a schedule and you will notice minor aches and pains go away with a good sleep. For example, if you need to wake up at 7am, trying going to bed regularly at 11pm. This allots for 8 hour assuming you can get right to sleep.


The second thing that you can do is have a regular routine before bedtime. Things in this routine can include brushing your teeth, going to the bathroom, taking medication, even putting the dog out to go to the bathroom. Anything that helps this become a habit, the better.


This third item may seem counter intuitive, but if you get a night with less sleep, try to avoid napping the next day and just subtract 10-15 minutes and go to bed a little earlier.


The final thing that I recommend for good sleep is adjust your environment. It is best to be in a cool, quiet, and dark room (about 60-65 degrees).
