Before we get into the benefits of Cardiorespiratory training, we want to remind you of our blog about Resistance Training.
What Even is Cardio?
Cardio is short for Cardiorespiratory. Cardio meaning heart and respiratory meaning breathing. It is a type of training that elevates the heart rate (HR), improves overall heart health, and increases lung health and capacity. So it works your overall heart and lung capacities and health. Improving one of these is good and has many health benefits, but by doing cardio training, you can improve both and get an even greater effect.
What Are The Benefits of Cardio?
Cardio helps overall health and conditioning. This type of training can help you stay off of medications, or even stay away from being put on medications for things like high cholesterol. Let's look at a list of all of the benefits of cardio:

So Is Cardio Just Running?
Running is cardio, but cardio is so much more. If you are just getting started, there are many activities you can do that are considered cardio type workouts. You can try any of the following:

An exercise or exercise routine are considered cardiorespiratory when your heart rate is elevated for extended period of time (we recommend no less than 15 minutes).
